Quarry Brow Child care and Day Nursery in barrow

opened in September 2004, as a Neighbourhood Nursery with support from government funding. The nursery is based in a section of a primary school, where the nursery rent a section of rooms that have been separated from the school allowing the nursery to run independently.

The nursery staff have a good relationship with the school, which will assist with transition into school for some children. The nursery has two large rooms for the children and further areas are provided. See our facilities section for more details.

Children attending full-time can have all their meals at the nursery, we provide the following:

Breakfast 7.30am – 8.30am – Choice of cereal, toast, glass of milk and porridge in winter.

Snacks 10.00am and 2.00pm – they can choose from a selection of fruit and a glass of milk.

Lunch 12 noon – 1.00pm – This is a two course meal with a glass of water or milk (typical meals are highlighted below)

Light Snack 4.00pm – Children receive a sandwich and selection of fruit.

and is helping to assist parents from the ward and outreach wards to return to work or education by offering affordable quality childcare. If you are on benefits or a single parent you may be able to get help towards the cost of childcare. The nursery has some basic information and will be happy to help you as best we can. At Quarry Brow we adapt to the child’s needs and do NOT expect the child to fit in with us. All children require and need individual care, as we are all individuals and this is respected highly.
